Asian fish, for crying out loud!

You have to try this. You just have to.
Fish cakes
350 grammes of white fish (for example coalfish), neatly chopped
2 teaspoons of fish sauce
1 egg
2 teaspoons of ginger (preferably fresh grated)
1 teaspoon of sambal oelek
Coriander (if you want more of this than what's already in the mashed potatoes)

Mashed potatoes with freshly chopped coriander

Sauce
1½ decilitre of crème fraiche
Some lime juice
Grated skin from one lime fruit
Salt

Mix the ingredients for the sauce and leave in the fridge until the fish cakes are ready. Mix the ingredients for the fish cakes. Make cakes, coat them with bread crumbs and fry them in butter. Serve the fish cakes with mashed potatoes and the cold sauce. Enjoy!
Children and chanterels

I'm at my parents' house since I will baby-sit their dog tomorrow. We have had fried chanterels on toast for dinner and it was the best thing I have eaten in days! I had forgotten that chanterels can be so tasty! From now on I will have chanterel toast for dinner as long as the mushrooms can be found.
Also, Linus has been so adorable. I took a bath with him tonight and he used the shower as a phone. ♥ So sweet!

Michael Jackson is dead

I had planned to clean and study today but it feels like that's not gonna happen. After all, MJ was my teenage idol and his lyrics were the first ones I learned by heart. His music was the first I really loved. It's so sad that I never got to see him at a concert.
I should write about the salmon I made yesterday and the three-course dinner I had last Tuesday since I and Norping have been a couple for ten years. But it feels like I can save that for another day. It feels like I can save anything for other days, except for listening to MJ and working. (And writing "Bajs!" on Kåta Handen's Facebook wall. Sorry but I simply had to...)

Trying to detox

Yes, I'm trying to detox. So far I have given up black tea for breakfast and sugar in the coffee. Except for when the coffee is too strong, like when my dad makes it, or as it was made at the psychiatric ward where I did my practical period.
(OMG. Today's quote from Norping: Is he singing about nudists?!? at the END of Polka for nudists, by Master Taube (sung by Supermaster Vreeswijk)! Yes love, he has been singing about nudists for the last two minutes and fifteen seconds!)
Back to detoxing. Due to the horrible weather I wanted to take a bath, but since I try to cut down on carbohydrates I couldn't bring the usual tea and baguette with garlic butter into the tub. So I took grapes instead. Sweet!

Psychiatrics

I'm doing my practical studies at a psychiatric ward right now. It is interesting but quite calm compared to the last period in Djursholm. Today, however, I managed to overdose on coffee. I have tried to cut down on caffeine during the last weeks in order to detox, but today I had three or four cups of coffee with sugar. That was stupid. I felt dizzy! Really strange!

Dinner, ages ago

We had this for dinner 15 days ago:

It's fish with bearnaise-flavoured sour cream, and rice. It looks very yellow but it tastes quite nice. The only thing that is annoying is that we don't have the flavoured sour cream at our local grocery store. I bought it at my parents' store which is three times as big as ours. *jealous*

Asian salmon

We had this for dinner tonight.
Ingredients:
4 fillets of salmon
1-2 tablespoons of fresh grated ginger
1½ teaspoon of salt
2 teaspoons of brown sugar
2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime
2 cloves of garlic
3-4 decilitres of double cream
Put the fillets of salmon in a pan that can be used in the oven. Mix ginger, salt, sugar, lime and garlic. Pour some of this on top of the salmon and mix what's left of the mixture with cream. Pour the cream around the salmon. Put the pan in the middle of the oven at 225 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes. Serve the fish along with rice and vegetables.
This was really nice! I and my boyfriend lack imagination when it comes to fish dishes. If you have a favourite fish dish, tell me!

We had this exam when I was in Thailand. It was on ethics and empathy which is important, but oh, so boring! So I just wrote something down and handed it in, just to be able to focus on the funny stuff, such as surgery and appendicitis. (exam next Friday) But today I found out that I had actually passed the exam!!! Wooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By the way, I'm off to work in an hour.
Counting

I'm counting medicals. Somehow it's quite fun, especially when I get it right! Thanks to everyone who congratulated me to/on/whatever the exam!
We had something iteresting for dinner last Monday. I diced a piece of Falu sausage and stir fried with vegetables designed for putting in a wok pan. (you know, the pre-cut vegetables that you buy in bags) Then we had cous-cous along with that. I spiced it up with some garlic and curry powder and it was actually quite nice.
By the way, I couldn't sleep last night. Not only because the clowns would eat me but also for some reason unknown. It was just impossible, so at one o'clock I went up and did some maths. I went back to bed about one hour later. I hope such a thing won't occur this night!

Today is my first VAB day. Linus has been coughing all weekend and I know all about sick hearts anyway. I can definitely stay at home!

Mum's over for dinner

We had Caesar's salad. Wonderful! Tomorrow she will introduce herself to Linus's Kindergarten teachers so they will know her when she picks him up.
Also, I'm mad at Stieg Larsson for writing such exciting novels! Men who Hate Women is impossilbe to put down! it has ruined my studies and my night's sleep!

When I was on my lecture some kind of photographer came in and took pictures of us, probably for some kind of information thing for the school. I felt so terribly ugly that I went to the hairdressers right after the lecture...
